Women to men, girls to boys many people wear makeup on a daily basis, 58% of girls between the ages of 8 to 18 wear it , that obviously means that it is likely that they would also want to wear it in schools. This debate has been on the news for a while but recently people have paid more attention to it.

On the one hand cosmetics are an extraordinary thing, it's an art form, a confidence booster and so much more. It can be relaxing for some people and entertaining for others and many have it included in their daily routines.

I had asked a female student about her opinion on wearing cosmetics to school and she had said that “Some students with acne and overall self confidence issues may wear it so that they can feel happier with their appearance.” The Young girl had also stated that “it doesn’t really effect anyone, It's just that someone has decided to put on something that makes them feel more confident within themselves.” I think that this is completely true and if someone wants to seek some confidence even just the smallest bit it does not actually affect anyone whatsoever within their daily life's.

But you could argue that it may effect people and even the person wearing it. If we wake up in the morning even 30 minutes earlier it could effect the way we work at school because of the small loss of sleep. Students may also be distracted or even more worried about their appearance with, than without makeup. Therefore, they might be more susceptible to pulling out a mirror or their phones in class which, can distract them from the work they have been set also, makeup isn’t always the cheapest thing and a lot of teenagers are spending money on it rather then school equipment. We all want good grades and a quality education should something like make-up really get in the way of that?

With or without makeup we all have the right to feel self-assured and we all should be happy in our own skin. Sometimes for some of us that will take a bit more time in the morning but it isn’t a huge deal although having that extra bit of sleep feels amazing. And with teens having to wear uniforms in school it can be used as a way to stand out so we don’t all look the same, all the time because that can be extremely tedious after all, regardless of age we all want to try and look our best.

Beauty is skin deep but we all should be able to like ourselves on the outside just as much as the inside.
