After a great conundrum with the exploding batteries of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7, what more could there be in store in the just-released Samsung Galaxy S8? Read on to find out:

The Screen:
First, Samsung have gotten rid of the physical home button, instead replacing this with a digital one on screen. This leaves more room for it’s Quad HD screen (2560 x 1440 pixels) as compared to the iPhone 7’s 1080p screen resolution (1920 x 1080 pixels). The screen is also taller, meaning more viewing space for apps.

Iris Scanning:
Also a feature of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 (yes, the exploding one), Samsung used this feature in their latest product too. Much like a typical fingerprint setup, users are asked to scan their eyes. Next to the main front camera, there is another camera specifically dedicated to iris scanning. The camera will scan the veins in your eyes to verify. This is known to be quite a secure way to lock your phone, as every single iris is different in every human. Creating a replica is pretty much next to impossible. Furthermore, the time the phone takes to scan your eyes and unlock seems pretty much instant - impressive. You can watch this in action on YouTube.

Facial Scanner:
This one is a little less secure than verifying irises, but at least it will be a little faster.

Bixby:
Once again, another robotic name for personal assistant software. But this isn’t just any kind of personal assistant. Bixby works in a new way, where it can scan through the camera and detect objects for example, clothing, accessories and books, followed by offering links.

Water-resistance:
Another feature from previous models is the phone’s resistance to water. The phone has a rating of IP68. This means the phone has been tested in a way, verifying it has Protection from contact with harmful dust. This also means the phone is protected from immersion in water with a depth of more than 1 meter. The exact depth should be specified by the manufacturer. IP68 is the highest IP rating right now. This rises just ahead of the iPhone 7 which has a rating of IP67.

Overall, the phone seems like it has some great features. The internet has joked on the topic of Samsung's previous phone, repeatedly asking “But will it explode?”. And from the reviews so far, no, it won’t explode.
