Lent starts this week and is celebrated in schools across the country, but we are not taught about the Bahá'í new year that also starts this week and requires a nineteen day fast. I asked a group of girls from Bromley high whether they thought the school shout incorporate other religions beside Christian and 100% of them said yes.  Many of them agree that the school should incorporate and embrace a different religion. When asked why it would be helpful, a girl aged 15 said: “ So that people are able to decide what religion they want to be.” Another girl said that she was not really bothered about it. The majority of people when asked said it would be good to learn other religions but when asked if their schools should do something about it, they said they did not really care.

This is bad for the young children of today who are not Christian and would feel segregated. 100% of the non-Christian people surveyed said they felt isolate as they could not relate to the Christian religion and as it forces the idea that everyone is Christian. This year it should be on every school's agenda to celebrate a mixture of widespread religious festivals like Eid, Ramadan Lent, Easter, Diwali, Purim Holi and many others.
