Tea and culture lovers unite on the twenty first of November for the best tea party since Alice visited Wonderland.

Since its interfaith week starting from the 16th of November the MICC (Morden Islamic Centre) are organising an event to bring together all religions and cultures while sipping on a lovely brew.

After recent events as well as the past influencing the present tensions are raised high when it’s something to do with religion, interfaith week was introduced to encourage discussion and understanding between different religious groups as well as the public.

Some may ask what the significance of tea is. Well the event will display a massive variety of different teas native to thirteen different countries. Each will have their own station and offer scrumptious native snacks.

From Moroccan mint 'Chi', English high tea and scones to Japanese 'Matcha' there will be something for everyone.

After speaking to one of the organizers, Nuzhat Ali I was able to gain a reason why tea was being used as a medium for unifying the community. Nuzhat said ‘We are using tea to display to members of the pubic that Muslims can be from anywhere and everywhere in the world, and race or culture does not split us apart’.

It’s crucial in our society today to make aware the issue of multiculturalism and to integrate all religions into the community. The bonding of different backgrounds is a beautiful thing and should be celebrated.

So why not come along and indulge yourself in a world full of flavors while supporting the cause.
