The holiday season is over, and most of us are back to work or school. The weather is a bit dull and the festivities of December are over. Feeling a bit low? Don't worry, you're not the only one! This is commonly known as 'January Blues' or 'acute post- bank holiday deppression'. January is a time of many changes and stresses- some try and give up smoking, some try and be healthier while others worry about the damage Christmas did to their credit cards.

"How can I get over this 'low' feeling?" you may ask. Try out some of the tips below.

  1. Set yourself a goal/something to work towards

Selecting yourself something to work towards will keep you busy and give you something to look forward to achieving. Time will fly by and before you know it, your January blues will be over!

2. Exercise/do some physical activity

Although this tip may seem time consuming and tedious, it is probably one of the most effective tips! Exercising releases a hormone called 'endorphins', which is known to minimise the negative effects of stress. A bit of exercise might even help some to achieve their New Years Resolutions!

3. Talk to a friend or relative

The simple act of communicating with others  can do you wonders. Having a deep chat with your best friend or simply discussing your day with your family can change your dull mood around. You may even find that someone else is feeling the same as you!

4. Look at the positives in life!

Easier said than done, but this tip really does get rid of negative thoughts. As the quote goes: "Everything around is made up of energy. To attract positive energy in your life, start by giving off positive energy."
