Today, the 11th of January 2015, is the day that Bertie the Bus is due to be involved with the Chevening Church, Sevenoaks. Bertie the Bus is a bus that has been designed to be used for children between the ages of 5-11 to have their sunday class in. Its rightful place is in the parking space outside the main church.
Bertie the Bus has been painted green and all the heating systems have been repaired to ensure a comfortable environment for the children. Today was the first day that Bertie has been used and it was a great success. There was plenty of space for the (roughly 30) sunday class students to learn in the double decker bus.
This system is much easier for both the parents and sunday class teachers as parents do not have to drive to the Chevening Church Parish Hall about 5 minutes away from the main church, which is where sunday class used to be held, to pick up and drop their children.
The slogan that the bus holds is 'faith, hope and love'. These words are taken from the bible verse "And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love." which is found in 1 Corinthians 13:13.
