CIVIL War began in Missenden Library last Tuesday morning and willing recruits are still able to sign up. In charge is Theresa Wilson who is taking you on a journey to the very midst of the fighting in Buckinghamshire between the Cavaliers and the Roundheads. GENETICALLY modified food, the human genome project and gene therapy are all very controversial, contemporary areas of discussion. On Wednesday, Alan Myers began a special ten-week course in Missenden Library to explore these recent developments. FREE family fun day is Saturday, September 29 at the County Museum and there is so much planned. From 11am until 3.30pm you can enjoy free sessions in The Roald Dahl Children's Gallery, see the Simply Sax Quartet, have Fungi Fun, watch pole lathing and street theatre and browse the craft stalls. There is also face painting and historic tours on offer and lots of activities for children. Bring your conkers and prepare to enter the Conker Battlezone. NEXT Friday, Saturday and Sunday sees the welcome return of the Hyde End Craft Fair just up from Great Missenden on the Chesham Road. Parking is free and as usual there are stacks of demonstrations throughout the day from 10am until 5pm. There are also lots of free children's activities.
