Video: Fingertip-controlled boat needs crew
CREW members are being sought for the
maiden voyage of a boat designed to be used
by people with severe physical and mental
disabilities.
The vessel is being made for the Ahoy sailing centre in Borthwick Street, Deptford.
It will be the first power boat to be controlled by fingertip and will be able to have 11 wheelchairs on board.
The £200,000 boat is being built in Falmouth, Cornwall, by Power Catamarans Ltd, and when finished will make its first voyage to Deptford.
It will leave Falmouth on August 20 and stop at Plymouth, Southampton, Brighton, Eastbourne and Medway before the final journey to the Ahoy centre.
Ahoy is looking for two crew members for each part of the voyage - one disabled and one able bodied.
Anyone wanting to get involved can call
watersports manager Tony Mason on 020 8691 7606 or email Tony@ahoy.org.uk
