Emma Watson has yet to come to terms with her sex symbol status.

The young actress has been lauded as the latest beauty to hail from British shores.

But the 19-year-old admitted that she found the concept strange.

The thought of hordes of men lusting after her was a turn off.

Asked at the New York premiere of the latest Harry Potter film if she woke up feeling like an object of desire, Emma replied: "No, no. I really don't. It is all very strange."

And the idea of sweaty, middle aged men objectifying her did not appeal, she said.

"No, no no!" she said in horror, before adding: "I guess it is flattering."
