Rod Stewart will belt out his hits at the Prince of Wales' 60th birthday party next month, Clarence House said.

The popstar whose famous songs include Da Ya Think I'm Sexy, Maggie May and Sailing will entertain family and friends of the heir to the throne at his Highgrove estate in Gloucestershire.

Stewart, an ambassador for Charles' charity the Prince's Trust, will provide the main musical entertainment at the party being hosted by the Duchess of Cornwall on November 15.

The Prince turns 60 on November 14 and will mark the milestone with another event, this time held the day before his birthday at Buckingham Palace.

The Queen will host a private reception for Charles and senior royals, including Camilla, and a concert.

The Philharmonia Orchestra, which has the Prince as its patron, will provide the music.

The heir to the throne was born at Buckingham Palace at 9.14pm on November 14, 1948, and was christened Charles Philip Arthur George a month later.

During Charles' birthday week he will travel to France with Camilla to represent Britain at the international commemorations marking the 90th anniversary of the end of the First World War.

During the visit the royal couple will have dinner with French President Nicolas Sarkozy and his popstar wife Carla Bruni.
