Keith McMahon today confirmed his second capture of the summer, signing midfielder Peter Smith.

Peter played for Greenwich Borough last year, where he performed well, mainly as an attacking midfielder. The signing follows the arrival of defender, Danny Moore earlier this week.

McMahon said, "I'm very pleased to have signed him, it's a massive signing for the club. He was being chased by a number of clubs including Croydon and Cray Wanderers, so I am glad he choose to sign for us."

"Peter can play in a number of positions and will add a great deal of quality to the side. He always wants the ball and is very good going forward, will chip in with a fair number of goals and he fits in to the squad that we already have."

"Peter could have chosen to sign for a club that offered him more money, he knew we couldn't compete with most clubs in terms of finances but he has been down to pre-season (training) and he has really impressed me and he has enjoyed it."

"He likes the way that Thamesmead are heading as a club, and the way that we play football and the way we do things so he decided to put pen to paper."

Talking about the forthcoming season, McMahon continued, "I'm nearly complete in terms of a squad and I'm really happy with the strength in depth we have now."

"I'm not looking to sign too many more players, just maybe another centre forward and I think that I will have a squad that will push the club forward next season in the Ryman League."

"We are getting really excited now as the fixtures are only round the corner (to be announced 15 July)."

"We have had our FA Cup and FA Trophy draws, both of which have paired us against our own league opposition. Again something we are looking forward to. We just can't wait to get the season underway."

Thamesmead begin their pre-season programme of friendlies at home to Welling United on Thursday 17 July. Kick off at Bayliss Avenue is at 7.45pm.
