DARTFORD have continued their preparations for next season's debut in the Ryman Premiership by signing Ray Powell this morning.

The Princes Park side have already strengthened their squad by drafting in experienced midfielder Danny Dafter from Brentwood and Powell is the latest fresh face to arrive at the club.

Powell, 28, can play in a number of positions including as a striker, a right midfielder, right back and left back.

He has previously played for Fisher Athletic, Maidstone United and enjoyed two spells at Tonbridge Angels, the club he represented last season.

Meanwhile, assistant manager Paul Sawyer believes Dafter will be a major addition for the Darts.

He said: "We've already got Danny in and it is a great signing for us because he has experience of the Ryman Premiership from his time at East Thurrock.

"Danny is somebody we've had our eyes on for a while now and he impressed for Brentwood in both of their games against us.

"We are looking to strengthen in all areas and Danny will certainly give us something extra, not only in midfield but up front as well because he gets forward and scores goals.

"Margate were after him as well so it is a great boost to get him here."

Sawyer also confirmed there has been no progress on Jay May's contract situation, but Darts fans shouldn't necessarily be too alarmed at this stage as there is a quite straightforward explanation.

"Jay is on holiday at the moment and will sit down with Tony again upon his return for more talks," added the assistant boss.
