THIS year sees the 75th anniversary of West Wickham-based rugby club, Beccehamian RFC.

Originally founded by former pupils of Beckenham Grammar School, the club is now open with strong links to the school's succesor, Langley Park.

Proud to have one of the first mini rugby sections in the country, they now boast one of the largest junior sections in Kent.

Their strength was evident from the performance of the under-14 squad this season, winning the Kent Cup by defeating reigning champions Canterbury 3-0 in a tight game played in terrible conditions.

They added to this by going on to win the Kent seven-a-side tournament as well as a fine display in the national Newbury 10s festival, where they lost in the semi-final to eventual winners Bristol.

Not to be outdone, the under-14 B squad added the Blackheath Spring Cup to the trophy cabinet.
