THE summer league of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance began in earnest last week with the opening fixtures in the Elite League and Tier Two East divisions.
Early pace setters in the Elite League are The Summerfield after their 3-0 drubbing of The Fox Under The Hill, with reigning winter league champions George IV A just behind them on frame difference after their 3-0 away win at Our Lady of the Rosary.
A healthy battle at The Jolly Fenman saw the Hotshots come out on top with a two sets to one win.

It was a similar score at The Beehive where Adam Everitt shone on his league debut as The Pickwick won, despite The Beehive showing they are going to be no pushover this season.
In the Tier Two East, favourites for promotion The Blue Anchor began with a 3-0 win at The Pheasant.
Two new teams to the SLKPA started with resounding 3-0 wins also.
The Great Harry and the Who'd A Thought It sounded a few alarms as they beat The Eagle Tavern and Leather Bottle respectively.
Slade Green-based The Railway Club Boys kept on the right side of the tracks beating the Bellegrove Social Club by two sets to one.
While these two divisions are still in their infancy, the Tier Two West is beginning to take shape now after three rounds of matches.
The Coach & Horses from Lewisham are yet to drop a set and sit proudly on top of the league table.
Last week their victims were the Billet Busters, who were split open 3-0.
Two other fancied and established teams clashed and it was The George IV B team who ran out victors thanks to Gary Sibthorpe, who was in commanding form in their come from behind 2-1 win at home to The Kings Arms.
The Gallies from The Antigallican in Charlton are yet to taste defeat and make up the front runners in this division following a comfortable 3-0 win against The Mitre.
New teams are always welcome into the league.
Friendlies can easily be arranged for any new teams considering playing in the SLKPA on Thursday evenings.
