BLACKHEATH & Bromley Harriers athlete Jamie
Atkinson has started out on the road to recovery following his quadricep injury which forced him out of the London Marathon and caused a three week layoff from running.
Atkinson, along with his coach Gordon Cooper and fellow Harrier Tony Mulcock, all competed in the Sevenoaks seven-mile race at Knole Park on Sunday.
Sevenoaks AC's Allan Lee and Atkinson quickly pulled clear of the field, but the Blackheath runner had to stop after four kilometres and stretch his muscles after the problematic quads cramped again.
He recommenced his chase before being forced to stop again on the next lap and eventually finished in second place, 45 seconds behind Lee.
