Dartford 5-0 Tilbury

WITH two fixtures left after Saturday's convincing win against Tilbury, there are two outcomes left for Darts this season.

Tony Burman's side can either lift the championship or earn a play-off spot, with the former the favourite.

Attacking the Plaza End Darts forced two corners in a minute.

From the second the ball was returned as far as Eddie McClements who delivered it with a right-foot version of a Ryan Hayes curler past Richard Wray in the Tilbury goal to put Darts in front.

The clouds parted as though the footballing Gods had decided a feast fit for Olympus was to unfold and unfold it did.

Tilbury, a young side better than their current lowly status indicates, had a moment or two when they got round the back and sent in power headers at Tony Kessell, but for most of the afternoon they were simply blown aside by a top-notch Darts performance.

It was mesmeric with changes of pace, direction and point of attack, altogether like basketball but played with feet.

Players popped up all over the place and the man with the ball had multiple options with every lay-off made and received by pure instinct.

Two further goals were added before the interval.

Firstly Hayes delivered a cross of laser-like accuracy for Jay May to head past an overworked Wray and then an astute Kadi cross was turned in by the same player.

In between the goals, Wray denied Brendon Cass and Adam Flanagan and Cass had a goal denied for offside.

Tilbury contributed to their own downfall immediately on the restart by handling a Jamie Coyle header and the same player buried the resultant penalty.

The rest of the half seemed to be dedicated to setting up chances for May to complete his hat-trick.

It didn't arrive, but there was plenty of time for Coyle to power home a header from a Kadi corner for the fifth goal and for the substitutes to add further variety to the delights on view.
