LAST night's 4-0 victory at Arlesey underlined the character within the ranks at Princes Park, according to Dartford boss Tony Burman.

Goals from Adam Flanagan, Junior Kadi, Brendon Cass and Eddie McClements secured the result which sees Dartford go eight points clear at the head of Ryman Division One North.

A delighted Burman said: "When you arrive at places like Arlesey and see the frost and fog, you question what kind of attitude the players will show in those conditions.

"I have to say I thought the attitude was absolutely superb last night.

"We could have been a couple up in the first half, although once we got our first goal they hit the bar and had a couple cleared off the line.

"The fog had cleared by the start of the second half and from this point we had total control of the game."

He added: "The goals have been shared around again, which is something we are good at.

"We didn't feel we played particularly well on Saturday when we beat Redbridge 2-0, but still managed to take three points.

"Last night we collected three points and had the added bonus of a good performance."

Dartford are now in pole position going into the final stages of the season, although the chasing sides do still have games in hand on the leaders.

However, Burman believes the pressure is now on their rivals as opposed to his squad.

He explained: "We have our points total and the teams behind us now can not afford to lose or draw their games.

"The onus is back on them, but at the same time we know it is up to us to try and win every game to make sure we can't be caught."

A trip to Waltham Abbey is next on the agenda this Saturday and the manager is taking nothing for granted against a side who have already won at Princes Park this season.

Burman said: "They may be in the bottom half of the table, but they were in a pretty similar position when they beat us before.

"You've got to respect them for what they did at our place, but our aim is to go there and get another three points."

John Guest returns after missing last night's win through suspension, but Jay May will serve the second of his four game ban and is definitely out.

May's absence is the main factor in Burman's search for a loan signing, although as yet there has been no successful conclusion.

He said: "Jay will be out for three weeks and even though I've got Tom Bradbrook and Brendon, I know I will be a bit short if anything happened to either of those two.

"I've made a number of enquiries and haven't received a definite yes or no to any of them at the moment."

Meanwhile, Burman has agreed to allow Richard Avery join Chatham on loan.

"It will be good for Richard to get some regular first team football there," added the Darts chief.
