TONY Burman has admitted Brendon Cass's equaliser at AFC Sudbury on the stroke of half-time did not cross the line.

Dartford were trailing 2-1 at the time when the referee awarded the controversial goal and Cass earned a point against his side's nearest rivals with the game finishing 2-2.

However, the manager added justice was ultimately done because the referee failed to spot a foul on Cass in the build-up to Sudbury's second goal from Jamie Rowe.

The Darts boss explained: "From where I was standing and where there manager was standing, there was no way we could tell if Brendon's effort had crossed the line.

"The referee from where he was stood 18-yards away couldn't tell, but it was him who gave the goal.

"Having seen the video, I can say now the ball definitely didn't go over the line.

"When I spoke to the referee afterwards, he said he was 100 per cent certain it had.

"If it had of been against us there is no way I would be happy about it, but Cass was fouled when they scored their second and nothing was given so I suppose it has evened itself up.

"Both decisions were mistakes, but it is done now and there is nothing anyone can do about it."

The point ensured leaders Dartford maintained their five point advantage against their nearest pursuers Sudbury, although the manager felt his side did more than enough on the day to return home with all three.

Burman said: "It was a good point away from home against our rivals, but we were the better side for most of the game and did more than enough to win.

"We are in the position now where we have to try and win every match because if we do, we know nobody can catch us at the top."

A maximum return will definitely be on the agenda when Redbridge arrive at Princes Park this Saturday, although Burman is taking nothing for granted against a side who beat Dartford 2-1 in October.

The Darts chief said: "It will be a tough game and they showed at their place what they are capable of.

"Redbridge have been on a good run, although they have lost and drawn their last two games.

"They are just outside the play-offs and will see Saturday as a chance to get themselves right back in contention.

"I believe it is a game we can win and I'm hopeful we will do so."

Burman also revealed he is looking into the possibility of drafting in a fresh face to boost Dartford's title hopes.

"We might be able to get someone in on loan, but I don't want to give too much away at this stage," he added.
