TONY Burman is not getting carried away despite seeing his Dartford side demolish Witham Town 7-2 last night.

The goal fest at Princes Park saw the Darts climb to the top of the league, but the manager says there is still a long way to go for his team.

He explained: "Obviously it is nice to be where we are in the table, but we've got a couple of really important games coming up and it can all change.

"If we are still top going into the Christmas period then it will tell me a lot more and if we win the games coming up before then, we know we will be top."

Last night's emphatic victory was the perfect response to Saturday's 2-1 home reverse against Bury Town.

Burman said: "We played OK on Saturday, but it isn't good enough just to play OK in this division.

"I'm not saying the players lacked effort against Bury because they didn't, but their will to win has got to be a lot stronger."

He added: "I wouldn't say last night's result was the best since I've been here because we are always going to create chances with the two lads we have up front.

"They were the best partnership in the league last year and I've no doubt they will be again this time around.

"What really disappointed me about last night were the two soft goals we gave away because it spoilt what was otherwise a really good performance.

"I've brought players in to strengthen our defence and although it worked for seven or eight games, there have been a few mistakes recently and I can't accept that."

Dartford will look to consolidate pole position on Saturday when they entertain promotion rivals Enfield Town this weekend.

Enfield sit fourth in the table and only three points behind the Darts, so Burman is expecting a close game.

The manager said: "Enfield have had some good results lately and will come here full of belief and with a strong support behind them.

"We had two good games against them when we last met a few years ago and there are still quite a few players there from then, so I've already got an idea of what they are about."

Tommy Osborne (back) could return, although John Guest (thigh), Junior Kadi (knee) and Brad Potter (ankle) are all likely to miss out.
