Welling United 2-1 Fisher Athletic

WELLING came out on top in a thrilling Setanta Shield tie thanks to a late, late show from super sub Omari Coleman.

The Wings started brightly and created the first chance on 14 minutes when Ellis Green found Charles Ademeno, who could only guide his shot straight at Simon Overland in the Fisher goal.

Welling should have opened their account four minutes later when stand-in right back Jackson Ohakam found himself on the end of an Orlando Smith low cross before turning and dragging his shot wide of the far post.

Andrew Pugh then had a great chance to give the hosts the lead when he picked up the rebound from Ademeno's shot, but could only scoop his effort over with the goalkeeper stranded.

Fisher then got involved in the game when a point blank header from Jeff Goulding was somehow saved by Jamie Turner 10 minutes from half-time.

Wesley Thomas was next to breach the Welling backline three minutes later when he cut inside Marlon Patterson, but he lost his composure and blazed his shot out of the stadium.

Welling then took the lead three minutes from the interval when Sam Keevil picked up the loose ball 20 yards out and his snap shot caught Overland by surprise as he was beaten at his near post.

The second half saw Fisher dominate and they should have drawn level when a great run from Shaun Batt left Chris Moore for dead before crossing to the unmarked Kenny Beaney, who hit his shot wide of the gaping net.

Fisher soon got their reward when Beaney crossed towards Gavin Tomlin, who could only find the inside of the post.

The rebound then fell kindly to Wesley Thomas and he tapped in just after the hour mark.

Fisher should have sealed their third round ticket with 10 minutes to go as Tomlin profited from Moore's missed header, dragged Turner to his near post before squaring to Andre McCollin, who somehow failed to put the ball into the empty net.

Welling came up with a stunning last-minute winner when Lloyd Blackman measured his cross perfectly for Coleman, who coolly diverted his header into the net.

The goal came just as everybody was resigned to extra-time but Welling in the end confirmed a third round trip to Bromley, provisionally scheduled for December 4.
