Dartford 4-0 Potters Bar Town

DARTFORD put their recent Cup exploits behind them with an impressive return to league action and a 4-0 victory against Potters Bar on Saturday.

Of the two managers, Tony Burman had the easier task, bringing in Jay May after suspension to replace injured Eddie McClements and recovered flu victim John Guest.

Potters Bar dipped into the transfer market after a midweek defeat.

The game started on a dull afternoon and Potters Bar soon showed, despite sporting a Barcelona strip, they fell rather short of the Spanish club's standards.

Dartford, defending the Brooklands end, took a while to size up the opposition, so it was midway through the half before they began to test the visitors.

There were flashes of wing work by Ryan Hayes and Mark Green while the back four and holding midfielders were rarely troubled, so it was a little surprising the opening goal didn't arrive until shortly before the interval.

It was worth the wait.

By now, Junior Kadi was showing some good touches in midfield and one cute pass set Hayes free to supply a pass to Cass who, in turn, delivered the ideal ball for Jay May to head Darts in front.

The second half carried on from where the first had ended and the visitors spent all their energies chasing shadows.

With the crowd thoroughly enjoying themselves, Darts showed what a class outfit they can be when the mood is right.

Applause rippled round the stadium almost ceaselessly, mixed with comic comment as Bar were reduced to booting the ball over the all-round roof at every possible occasion.

Corner followed corner and flowing move followed flowing move.

The back four and, behind them, Tony Kessell had only routine tidying-up to deal with.

Goals had to come and Brendon Cass duly scored from close-in following a right-side corner. Junior Kadi added the third from an impossible angle on the left by-line before Burman decided to make a triple substitution towards the end.

This enabled Ryan Hayes, May and Mark Green to receive well-deserved applause and for Yohance Lewis, Dave Moore and Tom Bradbrook to show their paces, which they duly did.

Bradbrook showed strength, pace and an ability to stay on his feet under pressure from defenders and, just before the end, opened his account with the fourth goal, a smart turn in from a right side low cross.

Dartford: Kessell, Coyle, Norman, Flanagan, Guest, O'Brien, Hayes (Moore 83), Kadi, Cass, J May (Bradbrook 83), Green (Lewis 83). Subs not used: Potter, Avery. Att: 836
