DARTFORD manager Tony Burman says there are plenty of positives to take from his side's cup adventures this season.

Hopes of a Wembley appearance in the FA Trophy were ended last night by AFC Hornchurch, who came away from Princes Park as 3-0 replay victors following Saturday's 0-0 draw in Essex.

The trophy exit follows the recent FA Cup defeat at Bromley and ensures promotion from the Ryman Division One North is now Burman's sole priority.

He said: "The league was always going to be our main focus, but we've enjoyed the runs we've had in both the Trophy and the FA Cup.

"I think we've played something like eight games in the two competitions and this would be enough to earn some clubs a place in the final.

"I'm sure the supporters have enjoyed it too, but it is time to move on and get back to our bread and butter."

Despite the emphatic 3-0 result against the Urchins, Burman says the outcome could easily have been very different.

He explained: "Although we came in 1-0 down at the break, it could just as easily have been 2-2 bearing in mind the chances we created.

"We hit the woodwork a couple of times, but it wasn't to be.

"I have no criticism to make of our players because I thought they all did very well and none of them have let the club down."

Dartford's return to the promotion chase gets under way this Saturday when they entertain struggling Potters Bar Town at home.

The recent cup exploits have seen the Darts slip down the table to sixth spot in the table, although they have games in hand on most of the sides currently above them.

Burman admits he is not presently too familiar with Potters Bar, but expects to be up to speed by the end of the week.

He said: "They are not a team I have seen play, but we are having a report done and I will know a lot more about them by Friday.

"Potters Bar are not doing too well in the league, but like all sides in this division, they will come to Princes Park and raise their game.

"It is up to us to quickly dampen their spirits and get the three points."

Burman will be boosted by the return of Jay May from suspension and John Guest is expected to have recovered from the flu.
