WELLING manager Neil Smith has told News Shopper new keeper Clark Masters will start tomorrow's game against Bath City.

The Wings boss drafted in Masters today in a one-month loan deal from League Two side Brentford and hopes he will inspire a defence currently lacking in confidence.

Smith said: "Clark is a fresh face at the back and hopefully his arrival will give everyone a bit of belief.

"I still rate Jamie highly, but I just felt I needed to do something to cut out the mistakes we have been making at the back to get us on a winning run.

"Clark is a professional keeper on the up and played 20 games for Brentford's first team last season, so he will definitely give us something extra and will start on Saturday."

The visit of in-form Bath tomorrow will provide the Wings with a stern test after a disappointing start to the current season.

Smith concedes the visitors will be strong favourites but sees no reason why his side can not defy the odds.

He explained: "It will be tough because they are on a high after last year's promotion and the start they have made to this season.

"Nobody will fancy us to win aside from me and my players, but this is exactly the kind of game we can turn our season around on if we win and I told this to the boys last night.

"It would be great for our supporters too because even though the last couple of weeks have been tough, the fans have been absolutely brilliant."

Smith has no injury or suspension worries for tomorrow's game.
