RAVENS Wood School’s rugby team has progressed to the quarter-final of the Daily Mail National Vase following an emotionally charged last minute 8-6 win against St George’s School, Surrey.
The Bromley school are now the only team remaining in the competition from London and Kent.
A fierce start by the Ravens Wood pack led to the only try of the match by full back Stephen Pillow in the first minute, but St George’s replied with two penalties to lead 6-5 early in the second half.
It took a 40m penalty kick by fly half Tom Coombs in added time to win the match for Ravens Wood, who will now travel to either Wycliffe College (Glous) or Sheldon School (Wilts) in the quarter-final on February 1.
