A STRONG contingent of 29 pupils from Colfe’s School in Lee lined up to compete in the Greenwich borough cross country championships at Avery Hill Park.
The Colfe’s girls stole the show by winning three out of the four age categories and the Year 8 team event.
However, success did not stop at the girls events as the Colfe’s boys battled hard to secure second and third in the team events.
Millie Bach (Year 10), Ellen Dunbar (Year 9) and Megan Marchant (Year 8) all came first in their age group to become Greenwich borough champions.
As a result, Bach, Dunbar, Olivia Porter, Marchant, Joe Gardiner, Dennis Zhelezko, Evan McDonald and Chris Harris have been selected to represent Greenwich in the London Youth Games.
Colfe’s director of sport Nicci Rayes said: “I am very proud of all the competitors, both our experienced runners and our novices.
“It was a great afternoon and a pleasure to watch them perform and support each other. “Three borough champions, one team trophy, two silver medals, one bronze medal and eight Colfe’s pupils selected to represent Greenwich in the London Youth Games is not bad for an afternoon’s work.”
