A PAIR of promising hockey players from Eltham College have been selected to play top level hockey at regional level.

Jack Pearson and David Lawrence represented Tonbridge Junior Regional Performance Centre in the England Hockey tier one competition at Old Loughtonians Hockey Club.

Pearson has also been selected for the U18 Futures Cup Saxon Tigers squad, placing him in the final 72 boys for an England U18 trial taking place over three days at the end of this month.

Meanwhile, fellow Eltham College pupils Josh Self, Henry Baines, Joe Allen, Bertie Page, Scott Ward-Corderoy, James Clarke and Jonny Fry have all been selected to represent the Kent Junior Academy Centre in county competitions.

All of these boys from the junior squads are also regularly representing Blackheath and Old Elthamians HC, who have developed a coaching set up for junior boys and girls at Eltham College on a Sunday morning.

Headmaster Paul Henderson said: “The achievement of these players is as a result of their hard training and expert guidance by our head of PE, Mr Fermor-Dunman.

“We wish them all every success for the forthcoming season.”
