A SPORTING all-rounder from Babington House School in Chislehurst finished first in the discus at the Independent Schools Association (ISA) athletics national championships in Birmingham.

Anna Barnett, 14, was one of five Babington House pupils competing at the event and added to growing reputation in the discus with a winning throw.

As well as boasting a host of title successes in various discus contests, Barnett also excels in the hammer, football and cricket.

At the ISA championships, fellow Babington student Esmee Hawkey came third in the high jump with a leap of 1.30m.

Lucy Puplett was third in the triple jump (6.86m); Bibi Brown fourth in the 80m hurdles (15.05s) and Tate Dowding fifth in the long jump (4.19m).

Babington House head of PE Mrs Jackson said: “The girls have been putting in high levels of effort in their PE lessons and in extra training sessions before and after school and their hard work has paid off.

“They should all be very proud of this success.”
