MORE than1,400 Bromley primary school students braved the cold and muddy conditions to compete in the recently staged borough cross country competition at Crystal Palace for Year 3 to Year 6 pupils.
The event is voluntarily organised by teaching staff remains the UK’s most attended primary schools cross country contest and has now entered its 25th year. With the support of Blackheath & Bromley Harriers AC, the separately staged boys and girls races for Yrs 3 & 4 and Yrs 5 & 6 yielded outstanding performances in testing conditions.
The winning teams came from Chislehurst CE Primary (small schools), Parish CE Primary (medium schools) and Balgowan Primary (large schools).
Individual winners were Joseph Georgiadis (Warren Road Boys Yrs 5 & 6), Mayumi Baines (Pickhurst Girls Yrs 5 & 6), Sam Reardon (Oak Lodge Boys Yrs 3 & 4) and Ellie Dolby (Edgebury Girls Yrs 3 & 4).
Co-organiser Richard Coe, of Parish CE Primary School, said: “We are delighted so many schools support our events against the spectacular backdrop of Crystal Palace Park.
