Former Raven impresses Harlequins
A MEMBER of the Kent Ravens first team from last season has been offered a Harlequins academy contract for this season.
Gary Sargeant is delighted with the offer and took the opportunity to thank the people who had made it all possible.
He said: "It's a Harlequins RL academy contract and it runs from April 1 to September 30.
"I'd like to take this opportunity to thank Ed Easter and Adrian Suter for all of their guidance and support, the Ravens for giving me the opportunity to play rugby league and my mum for all the travelling. I wish the Ravens the best of luck for the season.
"Hopefully this is going to be the start of a lot of things to come and one day, hopefully, will lead to me becoming a Super League 13 player."
Phil Jones, player performance manager at Harlequins, added: "Gary has worked really hard during pre-season and has been rewarded with a reserve-academy terms and conditions registration (RATC), which reflects we expect him to regularly be in the 17-man squad on a matchday.
"It also shows the good work Kent Ravens are doing and they have produced a player capable of playing in the Gillette Champions Academy and I am sure he will be the first of many."
Sargeant's RATC contract pays appearance money and a win bonus, and runs until September.
