A WESTCOMBE Park rugby player has been called up by Nigeria for this month’s African Nations Cup.

Winger Michael Adeniya will represent Nigeria at the event in Botswana, which takes place between July 17 and July 30.

He was born in Nigeria in 1982 but moved to England two years later.

Adeniya started his rugby career at Bromley RFC in the minis and juniors before moving to Luton and returning to Kent in 2010 to join Westcombe Park.

He is an ardent fan of the sevens game and has represented many teams at this sport during the summer months.

Adeniya is looking forward to his trip back home not only for the rugby but to meet his 101-year-old grandfather, who he has not seen since he left Nigeria as a toddler.
