OLD Colfeians secured a hard-won victory at Brentwood in London Division One.
Playing down the considerable slope, and with a high wind behind them, OCs led 7-0 at half time courtesy of a last minute try by Rob Bennett, which was converted by James Poole.
This looked to be too small a lead to take into a second half where Brentwood had the slope and the wind, as well as the majority of the possession.
However, Colfeians defended superbly and from two of their rare excursions into Brentwood territory, Phil Greenaway went over for a try and Poole kicked a long-range penalty.
OCs move above Brentwood in the league ahead of this Saturday’s home meeting with Braintree, which kicks-off at 2.15pm.
