TWO junior players from Old Colfeians Rugby Club have been called up to join the England under-15s performance camp at Leeds Metropolitan University in August.
Alex Smith, from Greenwich, and Tom Chapman, from Lewisham, have both been playing at Old Colfeians since the age of eight and are also in the same year at Colfe’s School in Lee.
Having already represented Kent last year, the duo were then both selected to join the Saracens Academy, the youth section of the London Premiership club.
Their invitation to the England performance camp will provide them with a summer of elite coaching, alongside the other 33 players selected from across the country.
This preparation will then lead onto next season’s England under-16 selection process.
Old Colfeians’ under-15s manager Andy Whittaker said: “We are delighted for Alex and Tom.
“For Old Colfeians to have two boys in contention for an England call-up is fantastic, especially as we only started junior rugby at the club seven years ago.”
Old Colfeians provide rugby on Sunday mornings for youngsters from the age of six and upwards.
All standards are catered for and boys and girls from all schools are welcome ahead of the start of the new season in September.
