LANGLEY Park School’s rugby squad have returned home after a highly-successful summer tour of South Africa.
A total of 33 rugby players from the Beckenham school took part in a development tour in August and September this year where and they won five of their seven games.
The boys also had time to see and explore Johannesburg, where they watched the test match between the Springboks and the Australian Wallabies.
A perfect day was complete when the Langley Park pupils met the Springbok players after the game, including Brian Habanna, Butch James and Schalk Burger.
It was then on to Pretoria and a safari in the African bush before heading down to Cape Town and visits to Table Mountain, Cape Point and Robbin Island, where Nelson Mandela spent almost three decades in captivity.
The tour moulded a fine team spirit among the squad and the outstanding results achieved since they returned underline the value of the trip.
To date, Langley Park’s first XV have enjoyed victories against Trinity School Croydon, Skinners, Colfes and have scored 50 points in games against Chislehurst & Sidcup Grammar and the Judd School.
