Charlton Park were brought back down to earth following their victory last week with a 36-15 defeat to a Dover side who had not won a game before Saturday’s result.
A mixture of injuries and poor availability ensured Charlton played the majority of the match on the back foot, and this was reflected through Dover’s fine start to the contest.
The hosts were able to quickly capitalise on Charlton’s mistakes and had amounted 29 points when Charlton had recorded just three through an Alex Miller penalty.
The visitors steadied proceedings in the second period and claimed a try through scrum-half Tom Grocott, who darted his way through the Dover defence.
Miller created Charlton’s second try of the afternoon when his cut out pass outflanked the advancing Dover defence and Reion Rabye dived under the posts.
Dover were only able to add one more try in the second half, but the victory was secured during a superb opening period in which Charlton failed to turn up.
Charlton will be hoping to get back to winning ways this Saturday as Medway make the trip to Broadwalk.
