Charlton Park won their first game of the season on Saturday with a four-try defeat over Gosport & Fareham.
The hosts turned a strong start into a lead when Lee Amzaleg darted through the opposition line to score.
Charlton Park recorded their second try soon after, as quick thinking following a disruption allowed Rob Saunderson to dive over, which Tommy Nightingale duly converted.
Gosport were back in it when they scored a converted try after a period of sustained pressure, which continued into the second half with two more tries to retake the lead.
Charlton hit back, however, and slick interchanges allowed Ade Aderiye to go over for the hosts’ third try of the afternoon.
Alex Miller, playing only his second league match, intercepted a pass well before diving over to score his side’s fourth try, before Charlton were able to hold firm in the final minutes to complete a crucial 27-17 victory.
