Westcombe Park had the opportunity to dent the London Irish Wild Geese’s promotion ambitions - but missed their chances and let the Irish in to take the lead.
The Orpington visitors opened the scoring with a fine try by skipper Hamish Barton, breaking away from a lineout.
However, Irish replied when winger Mark Asquith squeezed in at the corner.
London Irish out-half Gavin Dunne had a good day with the boot, converting the try and later adding three penalties.
Combe finished the first half strongly but crucially with no further scoring.
At the restart the visitors opened up the home defence as Paul Humphries crossed to bring the scores level, but two penalties from Dunne saw the Irish edge ahead.
Combe set up good position again on the home side’s line but came away empty handed. They finished in the same position but likewise could not add to the score.
There is no fixture this Saturday but Westcombe Park entertain CS Rugby at Goddington Dene on April 11, the last home game of the league programme.
