Westcombe Park started brightly in Saturday’s win at Tonbridge Juddians, writes Mike Attewell.

A stiff wind quartering across the park made kicking a lottery, but Combe reached the interval two tries to a penalty in front.

The first fell to Trent Nattrass following a brilliant passing move, the second to Dylan Flashman, stunning in its simplicity off the back of a scrum.

Tonbridge’s only response, a Luke Giles penalty on the stroke of half-time.

Giles added another penalty after the interval, but Ben Hough went in at the corner and Iain Gordon converted magnificently for a 17-6 lead.

Ten minutes later the hosts enjoyed their best period to briefly rock Combe and close the gap to a single point.

Another Giles penalty was shortly followed by JJ Murray scoring a try with the conversion suddenly making it 16-17.

Gordan relieved the pressure with a penalty, but with time running out a desperate attempt by TJs to keep the ball alive popped up behind their defence.

Jordan Davies seized on the chance to run from halfway unopposed to the line for Combe’ss bonus try.

With the conversion successfully kicked, the final score reflected the Orpington side’s superiority.
