LEADERS Park House were made to work hard for a 34-25 win by battling opponents Shooters Hill.

An early rolling maul and drive took Shoots deep into Park territory and Peter Deady slotted a penalty.

Soon afterwards scrum half Harry Barham sold a trademark dummy helping Shoots to a position near the line enabling the pack to push over for No 8 Pat Beale to claim the score.

Some good work by Park saw them gain ground but Shooters Hill’s defence, led by centre Henry Sivelle's great tackling, held out.

Fly half Edmar Vinluan put in some long kicks, from which Shoots scored again and Deady converted.

Shoots turned over a lineout but now it was Park's turn to score from the base of the scrum and a period of inattention saw them awarded a string of penalties.

With Shoots temporarily down to 14 men at the start of the second half, Park came back strongly to score twice, a period enlivened only by another break by Barham.

A penalty near the line saw Beale driven over but the conversion was missed.

Then a string of penalties saw Shoots work their way back to the Park line and Barham broke from the scrum to reach over and ground the ball.

But the promised Shoots victory was not to be as Park kicked a final penalty.
