Basingstoke 40-8 Westcombe Park
10:14am Tuesday 29th October 2013 in Rugby
WESTCOMBE Park were well beaten at Basingstoke on Saturday.
The home side handled the windy conditions better, especially in the second half, and rattled up five tries to secure a bonus point win.
Combe struggled to get on the scoreboard with only a penalty from Iain Gordon and a late try for left-wing Omar Dixon to show for their efforts.
Basingstoke got off to a flying start, having first advantage of the elements with a try from Jobi Kochanowski, converted by Adam Davies, who added two penalties soon after.
They finished the half 23-0 in front, with a try from Sam Morton and a conversion and penalty from Davies.
Combe might have hoped this score could be overhauled in the second half such was the wind and the slope, but they failed to turn possession and position into points when they had the opportunities.
Indeed, Basingstoke went further ahead with tries from Matthew Horne, Jamie Fish, and a second for Morton.
Davies kicked one more conversion and the late try by Dixon was scant consolation.
