Shooters Hill 20-17 HSBC
1:49pm Tuesday 5th March 2013 in Rugby
A BATTLING win over HSBC saw Shooters Hill jump up two places to sixth in Kent One.
Shoots started with a bang, twice attacking the visitors’ line but good running by the HSBC backs saw them in on the left and seven points up. Edmar Vinluan kicked a penalty but with the penalty count going the visitors' way, they once again ran well to score on the left.
Despite the solid physical appearance presented by HSBC, Shoots kept themselves in the opposition territory and flanker Pat Beale forced himself over from a maul before Vinluan converted.
Peter Evans produced the try of the match when he broke away to run 55m on the left wing.
Despite losing good ball more than once and needing four replacements, there was some good tackling and Beale was forced over the line for his second try.
Shoots continued to press forward and No 8 Dave Viney produced a deft chip and catch which went unrewarded.
HSBC mounted a final 10 minute effort to regain the initiative and were rewarded with a late consolation try.
