Goldberg resumes control

MARK Goldberg has returned for a second spell as manager at Bromley FC.

The former Crystal Palace chairman enjoyed a successful 18-month reign, which included lifting Kent Cup and promotion to the Blue Square South, before stepping down in December to concentrate on other business interests.

He was succeeded in the dugout by Simon Osborn, but he stepped down at the end of the season and now Goldberg has returned to the hotseat.

Bromley chairman Jerry Dolke told the club's official website: "I am delighted that Mark has agreed to take up the reins once more.

With all clubs now looking to make plans for next season it was crucial that we appointed a new manager as soon as possible.

"We need a degree of stability in order to be able to attract players of the quality required to do well in Blue Square South."

Mr Dolke also strongly denied speculation elsewhere Goldberg's return would lead to the club being taken off the market after the chairman put the Lillywhites up for sale last month.

He explained: "I would also like to take this opportunity to quash once and for all the rumours that have surfaced in the football press this weekend.

"Bromley Football Club is still up for sale and neither is Mark the new owner nor is he involved in any of the parties with which I have been holding discussions.

"He is returning to the role which he left, which is purely as first team manager.

"We hope to be in a position to reveal Mark's backroom staff shortly."
