Newcastle are set to reignite their interest in Andros Townsend.

The Magpies sold Townsend to Crystal Palace for £13m last summer, and were interested in re-signing him in January.

The move never materialised and the ex-Tottenham man helped Palace secure their top-flight status.

But now, Premier League new boys Newcastle want to bring Townsend back to St James’ Park.

The England international was a big hit on Tyneside after joining from Tottenham in January 2016 - and his good form in a relegated team earned him a move to Selhurst Park.

Townsend played his best football in an Eagles shirt under Sam Allardyce. But the former England manager’s resignation earlier this week has cast doubt over the 25-year-old’s future.

And with Newcastle prepared to splash the cash this summer, Townsend could be one of many signings for Rafa Benitez’s side.
