The agent of Juventus midfielder Stefano Sturaro has spoken out about interest from Premier League clubs this summer.

The Italy international, who has played 43 games for Juventus since signing from Genoa in July 2014, was heavily linked with a move to the top-flight.

Italian outlet Tuttomercatoweb claimed in August that London rivals Crystal Palace and Chelsea were weighing up moves for Stefano.

And the 23-year-old’s agent, Carlo Volpi, has admitted there was substantial interest in his client from two English clubs.

When asked about speculation from the Premier League, Volpi told Tutto Juve: “Yes, they were Southampton and Sunderland.

“The latter manager, [David] Moyes is an admirer of his time by Everton but the discussion stopped in June because there was no basis to enter into negotiations.

“Nothing has ever been taken into account by Juve.”

Sturaro, who started his career at local club Sanremese, played three games for Italy at Euro 2016.
