Crystal Palace are set to revive their interest in Everton midfielder James McCarthy this winter, according to reports.

The Eagles were heavily linked with a deadline day move for McCarthy, but the deal fell through as Everton were unable to land the signing of Moussa Sissoko.

The Toffees are believed to have tabled a £30m offer for the Newcastle midfielder, only to see the Frenchman seal a dramatic late switch to Tottenham.

Palace have lined up a move for ex-Arsenal midfielder Mathieu Flamini after missing out on McCarthy, but the Daily Mail say they intend to go back in for the Everton man in January.

However, it is claimed Alan Pardew’s charge face competition from Leicester City and Newcastle United in the battle to sign the unsettled Republic of Ireland star.
