Middlesbrough are interested in signing former Arsenal and Manchester United star Robin van Persie, reports say.

The Dutch striker scored 14 league goals in 29 games for Fenerbahce last season but is reportedly already considering a return to England.

The Daily Mail say the Turkish giants are willing to consider offers for van Persie after it was reported earlier in the week that he had been offered to Crystal Palace and West Ham.

Newly-promoted Boro hope to bolster their attacking options ahead of a testing campaign in the Premier League.

Van Persie started his career at Feyenoord before sealing a move to Arsenal in 2004.

The 32-year-old scored over 100 goals for the Gunners and made a controversial switch to Manchester United in 2012, but only spent three years at Old Trafford.
