Manchester City and Liverpool have joined the growing list of clubs showing interest in Newcastle United’s Andros Townsend, according to reports.
Townsend is set to be the subject of intense speculation this summer after it was revealed the winger has a £10.5m release clause written into his contract.
Southampton and Crystal Palace have already been linked with moves for the England international, who excelled during his stay at St James’ Park last season.
But the Daily Telegraph say City and Liverpool are also weighing up shock bids for Townsend.
It is claimed a move to the Etihad or Anfield would be boosted if the Premier League giants fail to land their priority targets during the summer window.
Townsend began his career at White Hart Lane and scored four goals in 13 league appearances for Newcastle towards the end of last season.
He netted the decisive goal in the 1-0 win over Palace in April and also scored against potential suitors Southampton.
