West Ham co-chairman David Sullivan says the Hammers are now the “champions of London”.

The east London club have flourished this season under the leadership of new manager Slaven Bilic.

They currently sit sixth in the Premier League – five points below Manchester City in a Champions League place with a game in hand.

West Ham’s form against their London rivals has been equally impressive with the club winning four of their eight derbies and only losing one.

For Upton Park chief Sullivan, 67, this is validation of the Hammers’ dominance in London.

He told Sky Sports: “We are champions of London. If you do a league of all the five London teams when they’ve played each other, we are the champions of London.

“14 points (sic - West Ham have 15) is better than anyone else. We call ourselves champions of London now.”

West Ham host Swansea on Saturday before their final game at the Boleyn Ground on Tuesday night against Manchester United.
