Tottenham will keep their slim title chances alive this weekend with victory at Crystal Palace, according to former Arsenal forward Paul Merson.

An impressive first half of the season has seen Spurs climb to fourth in the table – five points adrift of league leaders Arsenal.

A home defeat to fellow high-flyers Leicester last week dented Tottenham’s hopes of challenging for the title, but Merson believes the north London outfit can get back on track tomorrow.

The former England international said in his weekly Sky Sports prediction column: “Spurs are a good team and they’ll be boosted having rested Harry Kane and Dele Alli in the FA Cup win at Leicester.

“I’m starting to worry myself with the amount of times I’m backing Spurs but they are a very good team, all the way through the spine of the team is top drawer.

“Victory at Palace will keep their slim title hopes alive but, come the end of the season, I feel they will be kicking themselves for losing to Leicester last week.”

Merson, who made over 300 appearances for the Gunners, is predicting a 2-1 away win and believes the Eagles will miss Yannick Bolasie.

The 26-year-old winger has been sidelined with injury since Christmas.

Sky Sports pundit Merson added: “This is a tough game but Tottenham are playing really well.

“Palace have hit a bump recently, I don't like calling teams 'one-man teams' but they are a lesser side when Yannick Bolasie doesn't play.

“Add that to the fact that their strikers have been misfiring and this current slump is understandable.”
