Crystal Palace are plotting another transfer bid for Sporting Lisbon striker Islam Slimani, according to Portuguese reports.

The Eagles were strongly linked with a move for the 27-year-old last summer and reportedly had a bid in the region of £9m rejected by the Primeira Liga club.

Sporting’s valuation of Slimani ensured a switch to the Premier League never materialised, but Portuguese outlet O Jogo – via Sport Witness – say Palace are plotting a fresh move for the forward.

Alan Pardew is intent on bolstering his squad this winter as the club push for a European spot and contact between the two parties has already allegedly taken place.

Slimani, who has made 41 appearances for Algeria, has netted 27 goals in 57 games for Sporting since joining from CR Belouizdad in 2013.
