Former Liverpool striker John Aldridge has questioned Manchester United’s treatment of Wilfried Zaha after the winger has rediscovered a rich of vein of form for Crystal Palace.

Zaha, 23, suffered two dismal seasons at Old Trafford following a lucrative £15m move from south London in 2013.

The winger made only two appearances for the Red Devils and was sold back to Palace on transfer deadline day in February.

Since his return to Selhurst Park, Zaha has been one of Alan Pardew’s most menacing and consistent performers.

The 23-year-old was in fine form at the weekend as Palace secured a 2-1 win at Liverpool but Aldridge questioned Zaha’s sudden transformation.

“I don’t know what Manchester United did to Wilfried Zaha but he looked like an England player at Anfield. He was superb down their right,” he said.

Aldridge, who scored 50 goals in 83 appearances for the Reds, also spoke highly of Zaha’s former Palace team-mate, Nathanial Clyne.

The 57-year-old added: “I thought Nathaniel Clyne was excellent for us.

“Palace never got any change out of him. He was very solid and looked good going forward.

“He’s been one of the big positives for us so far this season.”
